California Regulations

CalABC works on key regulations that impact the automotive repair industry and our members. While many of the regulations that we work on are proposed by the Bureau of Automotive Repair, CalABC also works with other agencies, such as Department of Toxic Substance Control, CalOSHA. CalEPA, and the Department of Food & Agriculture's, Weights and Measures Enforcement Division that propose regulations that may impact you.

Here is a partial list of Regulations that CalABC has been involved with:

  • Mobile Advertising and Licensing – Requiring all mobile advertisers on the internet to be licensed with BAR
  • Electronic Documents & Authorization – This would allow repair shops to provided electronic documents and receive electronic authorization from consumers
  • Oil Change Standards – This will develop a standard for oil change intervals and services that was initiated by Senator Allen when they drafted SB 778 that was vetoed
  • Disciplinary Guidelines – This established all the guidelines for taking disciplinary action against repair shops for violations of the Automotive Repair Act.

To find out how CalABC stands on these and other regulations, join CalABC.
